About us
J. Kehl Carpentry Ltd. is owned by Jason and Colleen Kehl. We were lifelong residents of Kenora, a small city in Northwestern Ontario. BC has always had appeal to us; the beauty of the mountains, and the recreational activities they provide, became too much to resist after our adult children relocated to BC. We explored the BC interior and loved the atmosphere of Grand Forks in particular, so we purchased a building lot in the fall of 2021.
We constructed our cabinetry and woodworking shop in the summer of 2024 and made the move to Grand Forks in the spring of 2025. We spent the following year building our new home and getting setup to offer our carpentry and renovation services to Grand Forks and the surrounding area.

Jason is a licensed journeyman carpenter with over 25 years experience; our focus is on attention to detail throughout all aspects of a project. J. Kehl Carpentry Ltd has built several new homes in the Kenora area, but made the switch to focusing on renovations and smaller projects.
We prefer the consistency and predictability that comes with as few people as possible performing the work on your project. Jason will be your contact from the first meeting through to final completion, with Jason doing most of the work himself. Jason’s skills include all aspects of general carpentry and woodworking, as well as; tile, drywall and painting.
Qualified electricians, plumbers and HVAC professionals will be contracted for those aspects of a project.
We have available a wide-ranging selection of equipment, including specialized tools to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
Our shop facilities allow us to create custom cabinetry, furniture and staircases – actually, almost anything you have in mind! We also have available through national suppliers a broad selection of woods, hardware components and finishes to ensure we can bring your plans to fruition.
